What We Do

One Degree is a national nonprofit investing in next-generation service navigation solutions that empower people to build healthy and fulfilling lives by improving access to life-changing social services. In the U.S., over 90 million people live in a household where it is a daily struggle to meet basic needs. We are public-interest technologists committed to building the digital infrastructure communities need to help families take on the challenges they face every day.

About the Role

One Degree is expanding to Charlotte with support from GreenLight Fund Charlotte. We’re hiring a Regional Director to build our presence and lead our work in the region.

You’ll be One Degree’s primary leader in Charlotte and, for the first two years, our primary dedicated team member on the ground. You’ll build trusted local relationships, turn them into partnerships, and lead those partnerships through implementation, adoption, growth, and long-term sustainability. You’ll work closely with One Degree’s remote teams across growth, product, technology, implementation, operations, and development.

You may be a strong candidate if you:

  • have meaningful relationships across Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, including with local government and community-based organizations
  • are a trusted relationship-builder who can turn connections into concrete partnerships and results
  • can work effectively with government leaders, nonprofit executives, funders, and frontline teams
  • enjoy building something new and can pair strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • are comfortable working independently while collaborating with a remote, cross-functional team
  • can create structure amid ambiguity, use good judgment, and manage competing priorities
  • care deeply about equity, social justice, and building systems around community needs

And have:

  • 7–12+ years of professional experience with increasing responsibility
  • experience developing and managing cross-sector partnerships and complex initiatives from relationship-building through execution
  • strong project, stakeholder-management, and communication skills
  • experience with or understanding of technology solutions, and comfort using data to inform decisions

We care more about your relationships, judgment, and ability to build and lead this work than whether you’ve held a particular title.

How to Apply:

Submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining what excites you about building One Degree’s work in Charlotte and describing your connection to the community. We value lived and professional expertise; if applicable, share experience applying for, navigating, or helping others access social services or public benefits.

Review the full position description and apply here by November 13 for priority consideration. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
